This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Formulate and implement carrier procurement strategies that align with business objectives, service requirements, and cost goals
• Identify, assess, and integrate carriers across various transportation modes
• Recognize and oversee carriers that specialize in high-risk, high-value, and pharmaceutical freight
• Direct carrier contract negotiations to secure competitive rates, favorable terms, and service level agreements (SLAs)
• Create carrier performance frameworks utilizing scorecards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and business reviews
• Monitor performance related to service, cost, compliance, and risk, while initiating corrective measures
• Collaborate with Operations, Brokerage, and Customer Solutions teams
• Ensure that carriers comply with regulatory, safety, insurance, and compliance requirements
• Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies
• Analyze trends in the market, variations in capacity, and fluctuations in rates
• Enhance procurement processes, increase efficiency, and achieve cost reductions
• Support preferred carrier initiatives and establish long-term strategic partnerships
• Maintain precise records of carriers, contracts, and documentation within company systems
• Undertake additional duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
• Over 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or carrier procurement
• Experience in sourcing and managing carriers for high-value, high-risk, or pharmaceutical freight is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in negotiating transportation contracts and managing relationships with carriers
• Experience in brokerage, asset-based transportation, or third-party logistics (3PL) environments is preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of transportation markets, carrier networks, and procurement strategies
• Familiarity with compliance, security, and regulatory standards for specialized freight
• Exceptional negotiation and vendor management capabilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; capacity to interpret market data and trends
• Ability to balance cost, service, and risk in decision-making
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities across cross-functional teams
• High attention to detail and robust organizational skills
• Capability to operate both strategically and tactically in a dynamic environment
• Ability to work primarily in a sedentary position at a computer, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and occasionally stand, walk, lift up to 15 pounds, and travel
• Base pay range of $80,000.00–$90,000.00 annually
