Capital Project Engineer, II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct engineering analyses that encompass preliminary design, detailed design, project cost evaluations, life cycle cost assessments, and equipment selection.

• Oversee engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring desired outcomes, comprehensive site understanding, adherence to budget and timelines, minimal disruption to plant operations, and effective housekeeping practices.

• Create and sustain mass and energy balances for various processes.

• Execute engineering evaluations of physical and chemical processes.

• Identify solutions to current challenges and concepts, leading the implementation of these solutions.

• Draft Capital Investment Requests.

• Gather and assess bids from engineering firms, suppliers, and contractors, ensuring a precision margin within 10%.

• Negotiate and finalize purchase and contract agreements.

• Deliver comprehensive performance management support for suppliers and contractors, including setting objectives, monitoring progress, providing formal feedback and recognition, and facilitating project-direction communication.

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change (MOCs), and Pre-startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) on managed projects.

• Collaborate with site and corporate Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) departments to ensure compliance with all safety protocols.

• Report directly to the Capital Project Engineering Manager.

• Offer engineering assistance across Arclin’s global operations, with a primary focus on the Resin and Surfaces sectors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.

• Preferred: Registered Professional Engineer.

• 6–10 years of experience in plant maintenance, engineering, or project engineering.

• Expertise in chemical processing, specifically with both batch reactors and continuous processes that include integrated absorption towers.

• Proven experience in managing a department and leading project teams.

• Strong proficiency in understanding P&IDs and process and equipment schematics.

• Practical knowledge of PLC and/or DeltaV troubleshooting.

• General familiarity with operations and equipment in process plants.

• Preferred: Experience with Aspen Plus.

• Proficient in AutoCAD.

• Experience in HAZOP and PHA facilitation.

• Willingness to travel frequently, potentially exceeding 40% of the time.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and PMC.

• Understanding of process control systems.
