This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +1 more state.
• Take ownership of and propel pipeline development across the Western U.S.
• Generate, qualify, and advance new opportunities within a designated multi-state territory.
• Identify and engage with target customers, general contractors, and end users.
• Formulate and implement territory and account strategies in regions with low penetration.
• Interact with customers prior to the RFP phase to influence project scope and position SSI as a preferred partner.
• Cultivate relationships with stakeholders in engineering, operations, maintenance, and capital projects.
• Transform customer challenges into opportunities across SSI’s service offerings.
• Spearhead early-stage solution development with engineering to define scope, methodology, and positioning.
• Oversee pipeline activities using CRM tools, including forecasting, tracking activities, and generating reports.
• Represent SSI at industry events, during site visits, and through strategic customer engagement.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure alignment between pursuits and execution capabilities.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50%.
• 7+ years of experience in business development or technical sales within industrial automation, electrical systems, or system integration, or 5+ years of direct technical/hands-on experience in controls and automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, industrial technology, electronics technology, or a related technical field, or other degrees considered with relevant experience.
• Proven track record of building a pipeline from a low or nonexistent baseline in new or underdeveloped regions.
• Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities early, influence specifications, and enhance hit rates.
• Familiarity with PLCs and automation systems.
• Understanding of PLC system architecture, I/O layout, and control philosophy development.
• Experience in PLC migration and modernization, including PLC-5, SLC 500, Siemens S5/S7.
• Knowledge of integrating PLCs with HMIs, SCADA, and plant networks.
• Basic programming concepts including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
• Hands-on experience with platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE, Schneider Modicon, Emerson Delta V, or similar.
• Proficient in SCADA and HMI software like Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, and FactoryTalk.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and protocols including EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, DNP3, and ControlNet.
• Understanding of instrumentation and controls, including loop diagrams, I/O systems, calibration, field terminations, sensors, and transmitters.
• Familiarity with electrical systems, including LV and MV drives, relays, VFD/soft start systems, and protective schemes.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, such as load lists, cable routing, arc flash, and area classification.
• Excellent skills in communication, presentation, and relationship building.
• Strong self-motivation, organizational skills, and commitment to follow-through.
• Willingness to travel regionally approximately 50%.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic unannounced random drug tests.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
