This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Identify, cultivate, and qualify new business prospects within grid modernization, data centers, renewable energy, electrification, utility transmission and distribution, and strategic EPC collaborations.
• Formulate and implement market growth strategies that align with Systems Control's business goals.
• Keep an eye on industry trends, capital expenditure plans, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies that impact substation investments.
• Evaluate market conditions and competitive activities to spot opportunities for growth and market share enhancement.
• Build and enhance relationships with utility executives, engineering professionals, EPC firms, consultants, developers, and industry stakeholders.
• Advocate for Systems Control's Integrated Substation Solutions to potential clients and strategic partners.
• Influence project specifications and initial planning to boost win rates and project positioning.
• Provide customer insights to the executive team, supporting customer growth strategies and pursuit plans.
• Monitor significant capital projects from inception to award using Salesforce and other business intelligence tools.
• Coordinate customer engagement strategies for key utility, renewable energy, data center, electrification, and grid modernization initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, estimating, operations, and leadership teams.
• Assist in long-term sales forecasting, market evaluations, and business planning.
• Represent Systems Control at conferences, trade shows, customer gatherings, and utility associations.
• Cultivate relationships with EEI, IEEE, NRECA, APPA, DistribuTECH, and regional utility associations.
• Deliver presentations and thought leadership on industry trends, grid modernization, substation solutions, and energy infrastructure.
• Supply market intelligence and customer insights to senior leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in utility sales, business development, electrical infrastructure, power systems, or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of utility transmission and distribution, substations, renewables, data center power infrastructure, electrification, or grid modernization projects.
• Proven success in building customer relationships and influencing large capital infrastructure projects.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
• Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and business analytics tools.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Experience working with electric utilities, municipal utilities, co-ops, independent power producers, renewable developers, data center clients, EPC firms, or other stakeholders involved in capital projects.
• Familiarity with substation design, utility construction practices, or power delivery infrastructure.
• Knowledge of data center power infrastructure requirements and market trends.
• Experience in supporting strategic pursuits involving projects valued over $10M.
• Existing relationships in the utility and EPC industry.
• Skills in strategic business development.
• Proficiency in executive relationship management.
• Competence in sales planning and execution.
• Expertise in market intelligence and analysis.
• Ability to conduct commercial negotiations.
• Capable of forecasting and managing pipelines.
• Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
