This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +3 more states.
• Support special assignments and projects as necessary.
• Develop and implement territory plans along with effective travel itineraries.
• Establish BHHC as the preferred market among agents and target demographics.
• Seek out new agency appointments, arrange prospect meetings, identify book transfer opportunities, and other sources of agency production.
• Track agency growth and profitability, creating strategies for profit enhancement and expansion.
• Oversee agency partnerships, appointments, terminations, discussions on renewal strategies, and agency production management.
• Conduct in-person visits to agencies and engage in prospect meetings, claims reviews, networking events, and stewardship meetings.
• Coordinate strategic co-travel with Underwriting, Client Services, and Loss Control teams.
• Educate agents on BHHC’s value proposition, target markets, acquisitions, territorial objectives, and service models.
• Act as a resource for colleagues and brokers; senior staff may mentor other Business Development Managers.
• Attend weekly underwriting meetings and assist with discussions on large accounts, quoting, and opportunity development.
• Collect, analyze, and assess competitor data and territorial opportunities.
• Create action plans based on competitor intelligence and supply data for Agency Marketing Reviews.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Underwriting, and IT to enhance templates, systems, product offerings, and overall business efficiency.
• Ensure accuracy in Producer Profiles, Business Plans, Agency Files, Bravo contacts, and business activity reports.
• Maintain President’s Circle data for assigned agencies and utilize it for acquiring new business and renewals.
• Participate in internal and external insurance committees, attend charity events and insurance conferences, while enhancing expertise in workers compensation and insurance.
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is mandatory.
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience in the workers compensation insurance sector is required for Mid-Level positions; a minimum of seven (7) years is necessary for Senior-Level roles, preferably within Marketing or Underwriting.
• Competent in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
• Proficient in effectively presenting information to management and public audiences.
• Skilled in developing, implementing, and communicating company programs, new business needs, and agency action plans.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Quick to master proprietary and third-party software applications.
• Service-oriented mindset.
• Strong communication abilities with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Capable of fostering and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships.
• Demonstrates sound and accurate judgment, with the ability to support and articulate reasoning for decisions effectively.
• Proficient in planning and prioritizing work activities, utilizing time efficiently.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship for employment visa status.
