This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Identify and cultivate lending prospects in underserved communities.
• Engage in proactive outreach and manage internal and external referrals.
• Advocate for loan products and business resources.
• Represent the organization at public forums, outreach events, business visits, and community engagements.
• Clarify loan products and program criteria to potential borrowers.
• Collect and confirm information from applicants and businesses.
• Evaluate applications to determine creditworthiness and likelihood of repayment.
• Maintain communication with applicants from initial inquiry through approval and post-closing.
• Conduct industry, financial, and risk assessments.
• Suggest loan terms and repayment plans.
• Ensure that loan applications adhere to policies and procedures.
• Draft credit memorandums and present requests to approval authorities or loan committees.
• Facilitate loan closings and prepare necessary documentation with staff and legal advisors.
• Assist applicants and borrowers in formulating action plans related to budgets, credit enhancement, financial planning, or business strategies.
• Keep borrower files organized and input client and impact data into management systems.
• Monitor the financial and organizational well-being of borrowers.
• Provide technical assistance after closing.
• Recommend actions or restructuring when necessary.
• Collaborate with collections staff to find workable repayment solutions for delinquent borrowers.
• Support internal and external reporting and team initiatives.
• Experience in credit management, lending and finance, and/or business development.
• An associate degree or higher in finance, business management, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
• Relevant experience may substitute for higher education when applicable.
• Excellent communication, networking, presentation, and relationship management capabilities.
• Proficient understanding of financial analysis, credit assessment, and lending principles.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and solution-driven approach to resolving issues.
• Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks with minimal oversight.
• Flexibility, resilience, sound judgment, and a commitment to learning and community development.
• Knowledge of compliance, confidentiality, and operational standards.
• Experience in providing training or technical assistance in personal or business credit, finance, entrepreneurship, or a related area is advantageous.
• Familiarity with small businesses, entrepreneurs, community organizations, or underserved markets is a plus.
• Experience in preparing credit memorandums, structuring loans, or coordinating business loan closings is a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and provide employment eligibility verification.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, a U.S.-issued Social Security card.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and comply with the agency’s nepotism policy.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must be willing to travel regularly within the region, with occasional travel outside the region.
• Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work.
• Must uphold client confidentiality and adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct.
• Physical requirements include frequent talking, hearing, and use of hands and fingers; regular sitting, bending, and kneeling; occasional lifting or moving of up to 20 lbs.; and good close, peripheral, and depth vision with the ability to adjust focus.
