This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia, +3 more countries.
• Oversee donor and government pipelines, procurement platforms, country strategies, sector priorities, and networks.
• Recognize early opportunities and evaluate potential business development prospects.
• Conduct research on clients, partners, markets, and competitors to generate valuable insights.
• Collaborate with technical and program teams to comprehend challenges and formulate responses.
• Assist in making go/no-go decisions regarding opportunities.
• Establish and nurture relationships with clients, partners, governments, consultants, and organizations throughout the region.
• Lead key proposals from initial positioning through to submission.
• Write, edit, and refine complex technical content into clear and persuasive proposals.
• Ensure submissions are compliant, polished, aligned with branding, and submitted on schedule.
• Create capability statements, case studies, pitch decks, and other business development materials.
• Enhance business development processes, including the integration of AI and digital tools.
• Report to the Catalpa Director and collaborate across the organization.
• Contribute to a healthier, strategically aligned pipeline, stronger early relationships, improved pursuit decisions, exceptional proposals, and organizational knowledge.
• Experience with government, bilateral or multilateral development partners, or other institutional clients.
• Background in international development and the Asia-Pacific region.
• Experience with DFAT and/or MFAT opportunities is a plus.
• Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience in business development, partnerships, proposal development, international development, or a related area.
• Proven experience managing substantial tenders, proposals, or funding submissions.
• Strong judgment in business development.
• Capable of writing clear, persuasive proposals and shaping technical content.
• Skilled in developing strategies, drafting responses, editing technical content, and interpreting tender requirements.
• Proficient in building relationships and connecting people and ideas.
• Ability to comprehend both strategic positioning and detailed tender requirements.
• Inquisitive about clients, sectors, and challenges.
• Competent in organizing and managing complex proposals.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and incomplete information.
• Understanding of the commercial aspects of business development and social impact.
• Strong cultural competency and proven ability to work effectively in diverse cultural settings.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in international development, business, communications, or public policy are beneficial but not mandatory.
• Ability to adhere to safeguarding policies, the Code of Conduct, and disclosure requirements regarding relevant charges or convictions.
• Willingness to undergo background checks.
