This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Supervise the execution of all business development and proposal processes, ensuring compliance with established requirements.
• Direct the identification and creation of new business opportunities both within and outside the Continental U.S.
• Cultivate and sustain trusted relationships with clients at all organizational levels.
• Formulate and execute capture strategies, including compelling win strategies for new business opportunities.
• Perform market research to evaluate the scope and potential value of opportunities.
• Conduct competitive analyses to gain insights into the strengths and weaknesses of AeroVironment’s solutions.
• Engage in extensive travel to foster and maintain customer relationships while pursuing business opportunities.
• Regularly communicate with management and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on customer requirements and feedback.
• Collaborate with TMS leadership and engineering teams to identify technology needs and connect them with potential funding sources.
• Establish partnerships with other companies to pursue specific opportunities and enhance AeroVironment's product offerings.
• Assist in the development of marketing materials in collaboration with the marketing team.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• At least 12 years of relevant experience in business development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced degree preferred or relevant experience with Remotely Operated or Autonomous Vehicles.
• Extensive background in writing proposals and securing contracts.
• Proven knowledge of domestic and international customer requirements, needs, and issues.
• Experience utilizing formal new business gate processes and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
• Strong understanding of U.S. Government acquisition and program planning processes.
• Demonstrated business acumen, particularly in remotely operated and autonomous underwater vehicles or similar sectors.
• Valid driver's license and a clean DMV record.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 33% of the time.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in developing competitive proposals for large-scale programs.
• Strong grasp of budget and scheduling processes; capable of tracking and forecasting using business analysis techniques.
• Proven experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Exceptional negotiation, strategic planning, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to work both in an office setting and in the field for trade shows, demonstrations, and training.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be able to travel within the U.S. and internationally.
• ITAR/EAR compliance: must qualify as a U.S. person or be eligible for an export license.
