This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with reporters and on-field talent to create precise and engaging video content for ESPN’s linear and digital platforms.

• Utilize technical skills and creativity to execute expanded shoots, split shows, or complete shows without the aid of a traditional crew.

• Communicate effectively with camera crews and support roles to ensure alignment in field production efforts.

• Generate ideas and news angles; write and edit scripts; develop anchor questions in conjunction with coordinating and segment producers.

• Collaborate with the assignment desk and digital/social teams to distribute content across ESPN’s networks and digital assets.

• Leverage new technology to enhance storytelling and boost efficiency.

• Frame sports news stories to captivate the widest possible audience.

• Cultivate relationships with leaders across ESPN’s platforms to comprehend show and platform requirements.

• Adapt to evolving show-production dynamics, including overseeing split shows and acting as the primary contact for multi-camera shoots.

• Present coverage ideas and strategies during show planning meetings.

• Engage in planning meetings and conference calls to devise coverage strategies.

• Coordinate with reporters in researching, preparing, and reporting news and feature segments.

• Produce or contribute to on-air news and features, conveying content and logistical details to production staff.

• Organize the scheduling of hired field production crews.

• Review and approve scripts submitted from the field.

• Collect information and insights from news sources, athletes, leagues, conference representatives, and other newsmakers.

• Address issues with technical staff and other production-related challenges.

• Provide constructive feedback to management and mentor fellow producers and reporters.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 7 years of progressively complex experience in studio or related production.

• Strong production skills specifically related to sporting events.

• Exceptional news judgment.

• Proficient in social media and contemporary culture.

• Established understanding of sports and sports history.

• Detailed technical knowledge of what is effective on television and what can realistically be accomplished within the time constraints of show production.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Specific knowledge of television production techniques utilized in a digital control room.

• Working proficiency in real-time sports news production processes.

• Dedication to learning new technologies and disseminating that knowledge to benefit the team with innovative coverage plans.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
