This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
β’ Personally generate and develop a variety of game concepts based on client briefs, intellectual properties, themes, target audiences, or market opportunities.
β’ Assess and choose creative directions based on player engagement, uniqueness, commercial viability, and practicality.
β’ Establish and advocate for the player experience, creative foundations, core gameplay loop, mechanics, systems, progression, content, and overall user experience.
β’ Create and oversee comprehensive Game Design Documents (GDDs), concept presentations, feature briefs, prototypes, mood boards, and visual references.
β’ Influence the visual direction in collaboration with Art and UI/UX teams, offering feedback on characters, environments, interfaces, animations, and content quality.
β’ Facilitate brainstorming sessions, creative reviews, and evaluations of prototypes or builds.
β’ Uphold responsibility for the originality, consistency, and quality of concepts.
β’ Collaborate with the Project Manager and department leads to define scope, resources, budgets, timelines, and interdependencies.
β’ Articulate the proposition, reasoning, and compromises to clients, partners, senior stakeholders, and investors.
β’ Approximately five or more years of professional experience in game development.
β’ At least one new game developed from concept or pre-production to launch, with demonstrable personal ownership of its gameplay or creative direction.
β’ Strong practical expertise in game design, covering core loops, mechanics, systems, progression, content, balancing, player motivation, and user experience.
β’ Experience in creating or significantly shaping Game Design Documents, specifications, prototypes, or creative briefs.
β’ Capability to devise original concepts across various genres, audiences, platforms, themes, and commercial limitations.
β’ Strong visual and artistic judgment, including the ability to influence high-level visual direction, review Art and UI/UX work, and provide constructive critique.
β’ Practical understanding of development processes across Design, Art, Tech, Quality Assurance, and Production.
β’ Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication abilities.
β’ Professional proficiency in English.
β’ Confidence to initiate, articulate, defend, and modify creative proposals with clients, partners, executives, and investors.
β’ Preferred: experience in external, co-development, or client-led production, especially with licensed intellectual property or branded entertainment.
β’ Preferred: familiarity with mobile, web, free-to-play, casual, hybrid, MR/XR, or other commercially-oriented game development environments.
β’ Preferred: experience with rapid prototyping, concept pitching, market and competitor analysis, audience research, and AI-assisted tools.
