Bilingual Senior Disability Claims Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deliver high-quality and cost-efficient coaching strategies aimed at enhancing individual and organizational productivity.

• Offer developmental opportunities that improve knowledge, cultivate skills, and elevate the capabilities of Disability claims specialists and consultants.

• Oversee, assess, and assist with essential elements of the case management lifecycle.

• Evaluate initial claim decisions.

• Create suitable case management plans.

• Promote effective communication practices.

• Track key milestones, including COD and CPPD.

• Identify necessary support.

• Monitor treatment progress and plan outcomes.

• Collaborate with members, employers, and healthcare providers to ensure prompt, informed, and effective case management practices.

• Mentor and develop disability claim specialists and consultants.

• Enhance and supervise the quality of case management in accordance with the active case management protocol.

• Foster strong relationships to support employee development and engagement.

• Review and amend disability management files and reports.

• Manage action plans and decisions, or provide recommendations on highly complex disability claims.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree or college diploma in a relevant field.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in disability case management with another insurer or government agency handling short- and long-term disability claims.

• Proven written and verbal communication skills to effectively review and rectify various forms of communication, including interview and decision letters for claimants, providers, physicians, employers, group administrators, human resources, and legal representatives.

• Strong understanding of contract language.

• Ability to thoroughly assess disability management trend reports, medical reports, and other available tools such as Independent Medical Exams, Functional Capacity Evaluations, surveillance, and medical consultant reviews.

• Experience in training or coaching is considered a significant asset.

• Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare and insurance sectors.

• Familiarity with health-related terminology, concepts of accommodation, and return-to-work practices.

• Bilingualism in English and French is mandatory.

• Capacity to collaborate daily with teams and partners in Canada operating in both English and French.
