
Bilingual Disability Case Manager – 13-Month Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Manage and adjudicate both short- and long-term disability claims.
• Determine eligibility and evaluate medical documentation to assess if Total Disability criteria are satisfied.
• Accurately calculate earnings and benefit levels.
• Conduct telephone interviews with claimants.
• Request necessary medical documentation, such as MC, MRT, IME, FCE, and Rehab documents.
• Keep precise and detailed claims documentation while ensuring the confidentiality of client, corporate, and medical records.
• Follow departmental turnaround times for claims adjudication.
• Communicate with empathy and clarity, both verbally and in writing.
• Clarify coverage details, client responsibilities, and next steps.
• Address client complaints and foster strong working relationships.
• Build relationships with unions and employers.
• Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and only release permissible information.
• Review claims comprehensively to identify feasible solutions within policy guidelines.
• Identify inefficient processes and propose practical solutions to management.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to achieve departmental turnaround standards.
• Report directly to the Manager of the Disability Department.
• A post-secondary diploma or degree in Health Sciences or a related field.
• Insurance or industry-related designations are considered advantageous (CEBS, LOMA, ALHC, CDMP, CRTWC).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in the disability industry or case management.
• Capability to process and adjudicate both short- and long-term disability claims.
• Proficiency in assessing medical documentation and essential job responsibilities.
• Competence in conducting telephone interviews and requesting relevant medical documentation.
• Ability to maintain accurate and detailed claims documentation while ensuring confidentiality.
• Commitment to adhering to departmental turnaround times.
• Skill in clearly explaining coverage details, client responsibilities, and next steps.
• Aptitude for resolving client complaints and cultivating relationships with unions and employers.
• Familiarity with privacy regulations.
• Ability to conduct holistic reviews of claims and determine solutions within policy constraints.
