Backend Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Lead a small backend team while managing execution, which includes task decomposition, estimation, and prioritization.

• Continuously evaluate team performance and development, making necessary adjustments to team composition without affecting delivery.

• Build and sustain integrations with third-party services.

• Develop the internal LLM agent framework with an emphasis on scalability, throughput, and parallel processing.

• Enhance and refine platform architecture to adapt to changing project requirements.

• Provide technical leadership for the backend/platform track by breaking down complex tasks into manageable actions and establishing processes aligned with product objectives.

• Quickly adapt to shifting priorities, work within short feedback loops, maintain team alignment, and ensure project completion.

• Collaborate with other teams regarding architecture, integrations, ownership boundaries, and handoffs.

• Guarantee system observability and reliability through metrics, tracing, and monitoring.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in developing and delivering production software.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with asynchronous Python in production settings.

• A minimum of 2 years of engineering leadership experience, guiding teams while remaining technically involved.

• Strong expertise in designing and evolving complex distributed systems, platform-level infrastructure, or high-scale backend architectures.

• Capability to define technical direction, decompose ambiguous challenges, prioritize tasks, and autonomously deliver results.

• A product-oriented engineering mindset with comprehensive feature ownership.

• Strong technical leadership abilities and the capacity to provide constructive feedback while enhancing team effectiveness.

• Practical experience with LLMs and agentic AI frameworks, such as LangGraph or similar technologies.

• Up-to-date knowledge of the evolving AI landscape and engineering best practices.

• Comfortable operating in dynamic, high-ambiguity environments.

• Significant experience with Python 3.13, asyncio, Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL, HTTP/gRPC, ELK, and Grafana.
