Backend Software Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• Become a part of the software development team focused on a proprietary data analytics and modeling platform.

• Assist in the design, development, and upkeep of backend services.

• Create and sustain backend services and APIs.

• Develop software components in alignment with architectural and coding standards.

• Collaborate with team members to evaluate requirements and aid in technical implementation.

• Adhere to secure coding practices and internal guidelines.

• Engage in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Provide support for testing, debugging, and system enhancement activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or nearing completion.

• Strong foundational knowledge in software engineering principles and programming concepts.

• Basic comprehension of backend architectures and web-based applications.

• Familiarity with Git and GitHub.

• A desire to learn and a keen attention to quality.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

• Proficient in written and spoken English in both professional and technical contexts.

• Experience with Python.

• Knowledge of Pandas and NumPy.

• Familiarity with Apache Spark.

• Understanding of distributed architectures and microservices.

• Knowledge of synchronous and asynchronous communication.

• Experience with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.

• Familiarity with message-based systems like RabbitMQ.

• Experience with MongoDB.

• Knowledge of relational and other NoSQL databases.

• Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Experience with unit testing.

• Familiarity with Continuous Integration practices.

• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with generative code tools based on Large Language Models, such as GitHub Copilot.

• Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
