Backend Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Ava’s Data Migrations team to handle the import and export of patient health data.

• Design, build, and maintain backend services utilized for importing and exporting patient information.

• Take charge of clinic-specific initiatives, from loading data in the testing environment to gathering client feedback and overseeing production loading.

• Integrate feedback from clinics to enhance the ETL pipeline and fulfill client expectations.

• Investigate migration-related challenges by accessing backend data and examining import code.

• Reconstruct the sequence of events pertaining to migration issues.

• Draft comprehensive specifications for all written code.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in professional software development teams.

• More than 1 year of experience in developing programs where you utilize judgment to make design evaluations and decisions.

• At least 2 years of experience with Object Relational Mappings (ORMs), preferably ActiveRecord.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience with SQL: Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server.

• Over 2 years of experience in writing tests.

• At least 1 year of experience with pair programming, preferably in a remote environment.

• Familiarity with the Ruby on Rails framework.

• Capacity to critically evaluate various and occasionally conflicting principles, making well-informed decisions suitable for the situation.

• Strong ability to communicate clearly with technical audiences, both in writing and verbally.

• Excellent communication skills with non-technical audiences.

• Experience with Git/Github.

• Familiarity with AWS.

• Basic knowledge of Linux.

• Experience with Docker.

• Proficiency with the Linux Command Line Interface.

• Proof of education is mandatory.

• A minimum of 2 professional references is required.
