Backend Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and create scalable, high-load systems utilizing Python.

• Manage extensive data volumes, surpassing 200–400 million records daily.

• Work with data pipelines, system integrations, and analytics solutions.

• Improve system reliability, security, and overall performance.

• Develop, deploy, monitor, and sustain backend products.

• Collaborate in the construction and scaling of microservices-based architectures.

• Perform comprehensive code reviews and offer constructive feedback.

• Communicate effectively and collaborate with frontend, QA, and product management teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• More than 4 years of professional experience in Python development.

• Proficiency in Python web frameworks, such as Django and FastAPI.

• Experience with PostgreSQL, including performance enhancements.

• Familiarity with asynchronous task queues like Celery, Redis, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.

• Proven experience in building microservices-based solutions and scaling those systems.

• Knowledge of contemporary CI/CD methodologies and tools.

• Strong grasp of standard web technologies, including security principles.

• Capacity to make architectural decisions with a keen focus on business impact.

• English proficiency must be documented in the application.

• Willingness to engage under a B2B arrangement as an independent contractor is required.

• Nice to have: experience with StarRocks, Airflow, Kafka Connect, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS infrastructure.
