Backend Engineer, Control Plane

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development of the Tailscale product by working on open source client code and associated backend services.

• Take charge of the complete product lifecycle, which includes coding, product ideation, and making strategic decisions.

• Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers and product managers to refine and shape product features.

• Design, construct, test, and document essential software components as a member of an engineering team.

• Create product features for the control plane, relay infrastructure, and identity integrations.

• Implement observability in operational services.

• Engage in incident response activities.

• Manage escalations from customer support.

• Evaluate and enhance the efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources.

• Employ a security-centric approach to both design and implementation.

• Proven experience with distributed systems.

• Proficiency in the Go programming language.

• Familiarity with one or more SQL databases.

• Understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing and routing.

• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback effectively.

• Capability to work independently.

• Adaptability to the dynamic environment of a startup.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
