Backend Engineer, Control Plane

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development of the Tailscale product by engaging with open source client code and associated backend services.

• Take charge of the entire product lifecycle, encompassing everything from coding to product ideation and strategic decision-making.

• Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product managers to refine and define features.

• Design, construct, test, and document essential software components.

• Create features within the control plane, relay infrastructure, and identity integrations.

• Integrate observability into operational services, participate in incident response activities, and manage escalations in customer support.

• Evaluate and enhance system efficiency, scalability, and stability.

• Implement a security-first approach in design and execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience with distributed systems.

• Proficiency in the Go programming language.

• Familiarity with one or more SQL databases.

• Knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addressing and routing.

• Capability to provide and receive constructive feedback while working autonomously.

• Adaptability to the dynamic environment typical of a startup.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
