Backend Engineer, Control Plane

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development of the Tailscale product by enhancing open source client code and related backend services.

• Take ownership of the entire product lifecycle, encompassing everything from coding to product ideation and strategic decision-making.

• Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers and product managers to define and refine features.

• Design, build, test, and document essential software components.

• Develop functionalities across the control plane, relay infrastructure, and identity integrations.

• Integrate observability into operational services, engage in incident response, and manage customer support escalations.

• Evaluate and enhance system efficiency, scalability, and stability.

• Implement a security-first mindset in design and execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience with distributed systems.

• Proficiency in the Go programming language.

• Familiarity with one or more SQL databases.

• Understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing and routing.

• Capability to provide and receive constructive feedback while working independently.

• Adaptability to the fast-paced environment of a startup.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
