Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that deliver AI-driven functionalities in a production environment.

• Create high-performance inference pipelines and orchestrate workflows efficiently.

• Establish clear service boundaries for machine learning models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, encompassing performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident management.

• Enhance latency and throughput by implementing intelligent caching, request batching, and response streaming.

• Collaborate with clients and machine learning engineers to provide stable, high-efficiency APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering in production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for infrastructure management.

• Practical skills in building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Strong grasp of modern AI inference patterns, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Hands-on experience with debugging and profiling complex distributed systems under significant load.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs like OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a strong inclination towards shipping, monitoring live system behavior, and rapid iteration.
