Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Slovakia.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain scalable backend systems that support AI-driven features in a production environment.

• Create efficient inference pipelines, orchestration workflows, and define service boundaries for machine learning models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, encompassing performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident management.

• Enhance system latency and throughput by implementing intelligent caching, request batching, and response streaming.

• Work in collaboration with client and machine learning engineers to provide stable, high-performance APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Manage the inference and orchestration layer that powers intelligent features across various client platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Experience with infrastructure tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge in building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Strong understanding of contemporary AI inference patterns, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Hands-on experience in debugging and profiling complex distributed systems under heavy loads.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs like OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a focus on shipping, monitoring live system performance, and quick iteration.
