Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain robust backend systems that deliver AI-driven functionalities in a production environment.

• Create efficient inference pipelines, orchestration workflows, and clearly defined service boundaries for machine learning models.

• Manage system health and observability, which includes performance monitoring, structured logging, alert notifications, and incident management.

• Enhance system latency and throughput by implementing smart caching methods, request batching, and response streaming.

• Collaborate with clients and machine learning engineers to provide stable, high-performance APIs for mobile and desktop platforms.

• Lead the inference and orchestration layer that supports intelligent features across client applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Background in infrastructure management using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge in developing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Strong grasp of contemporary AI inference patterns, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Direct experience in debugging and profiling intricate distributed systems operating under significant load.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs such as OpenAI and Anthropic, in addition to self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a strong inclination towards delivering, monitoring live system operations, and iterating swiftly.
