Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that support AI-driven functionalities in production environments.

• Create high-performance inference pipelines and orchestration workflows.

• Establish clear service boundaries surrounding machine learning models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, encompassing performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident response.

• Enhance latency and throughput through efficient caching, request batching, and response streaming techniques.

• Work collaboratively with client and machine learning engineers to provide stable, high-efficiency APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Oversee the inference and orchestration layer that drives intelligent features across client platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Experience with infrastructure technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge in developing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Comprehensive understanding of contemporary AI inference patterns, including large language models (LLMs), vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Direct experience in debugging and profiling complex distributed systems under substantial load.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs like OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a strong inclination towards shipping, monitoring live system behavior, and rapid iteration.
