Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that deliver AI-driven features in a production environment.

• Create efficient inference pipelines, orchestration workflows, and well-defined service boundaries around machine learning models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, encompassing performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident management.

• Enhance system latency and throughput through strategic caching methods, request batching, and response streaming.

• Work alongside client and machine learning engineers to provide reliable, high-efficiency APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Oversee the inference and orchestration layer that powers intelligent functionalities across client platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Familiarity with infrastructure technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge in constructing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Strong grasp of contemporary AI inference methodologies, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Direct experience in debugging and profiling intricate distributed systems operating under significant load.

• Awareness of commercial AI APIs such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a pronounced inclination towards shipping, monitoring live system performance, and rapid iteration.
