Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that support AI-driven functionalities in a production environment.

• Create high-performance inference pipelines and orchestration workflows for machine learning models.

• Establish clear service boundaries for ML models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, which includes performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident response.

• Enhance latency and throughput by implementing intelligent caching, request batching, and response streaming techniques.

• Work collaboratively with client and machine learning engineers to provide stable, high-efficiency APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Background in infrastructure utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge in building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Strong understanding of contemporary AI inference patterns, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Hands-on experience in debugging and profiling complex distributed systems under significant load.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs like OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a strong inclination towards shipping, monitoring live system behavior, and making rapid iterations.
