Aviation Management Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee airline and space-tenant programs across the entire San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

• Establish strategic direction, policy, and operational guidelines for the allocation, management, and optimization of terminal, gate, and facility space.

• Collaborate with airlines, commercial tenants, regulatory bodies, and internal divisions to balance service quality, operational reliability, revenue, and capacity.

• Offer strategic leadership and managerial oversight to ensure tenant compliance with lease obligations, Airport Rules and Regulations, and relevant policies.

• Manage complex lease negotiations, maintain landlord relations, and oversee property management operations.

• Design and implement tenant space programs that align facility design, leasing needs, operational requirements, and stakeholder priorities.

• Provide strategic and operational management of the Airport Space Request System.

• Drive aviation and land use business development initiatives and assess intricate business proposals.

• Supervise negotiations for acquiring properties necessary for aviation purposes.

• Create and manage right-of-way agreements, permits, and associated property contracts.

• Counsel executive management on business terms, commercial agreements, property utilization, and opportunities for Airport development.

• Oversee aviation business development, initiatives that generate revenue, and operations related to public and employee parking.

• Lead, mentor, coach, and manage direct reports, including conducting performance evaluations and addressing performance issues.

• Administer policies, procedures, compliance, and governance regarding space use and allocation.

• Execute additional responsibilities as delineated in the 0941 Manager VI job classification.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.

• A minimum of four (4) years of managerial experience in a supervisory role is necessary.

• Four (4) years of experience in infrastructure management within a large organization is required.

• Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis for up to two years.

• A Master’s degree can substitute for up to one year of the required experience.

• Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications by the final filing date.

• Successful completion of the civil service examination process, including the Supplemental Questionnaire Examination, is required.

• A criminal history record check, including FBI fingerprints, must be undertaken.

• Completion of a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment is necessary.

• Candidates may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening.

• Candidates must qualify for unescorted access to the San Francisco International Airport U.S. Customs Security Area.

• An application for, successful acquisition, and maintenance of a Customs Access Seal must be submitted after employment commences.

• Candidates must maintain qualifications as mandated by law and the examination announcement.
