Audio Engineer – French Speech, TTS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Edit and process French voice recordings for applications related to speech and TTS.

• Execute silence trimming, breath reduction or removal, de-clicking, de-essing, and noise reduction techniques.

• Detect and rectify clipping, distortion, background noise, and undesirable audio artifacts.

• Ensure balanced loudness and recording levels across extensive batches of speech audio.

• Uphold consistent audio quality throughout structured production workflows.

• Assess French recordings for accuracy in pronunciation, fluency, and naturalness.

• Recognize unnatural delivery, articulation challenges, or inconsistencies in spoken French.

• Evaluate speech quality using native or near-native listening judgment.

• Provide detailed quality feedback on recordings that require corrections or rework.

• Prepare audio for TTS and speech-AI training pipelines.

• Review recordings to ensure compliance with dataset and model-training specifications.

• Assist in quality-control workflows for large-scale machine learning datasets.

• Conduct comprehensive quality-assurance reviews for high-volume audio batches.

• Employ consistent evaluation standards throughout repetitive production workflows.

• Flag technical defects, inconsistencies, and issues related to recording quality.

• Contribute to dependable audio QA, labeling, and evaluation processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in French with a keen listening intuition for pronunciation, rhythm, and natural speech patterns.

• Professional experience in editing speech, dialogue, voice-over, or other voice recordings.

• Strong understanding of speech-audio quality standards and prevalent recording defects.

• Practical experience with iZotope RX, Pro Tools, or similar audio-editing and restoration software.

• Capability to identify and rectify artifacts, inconsistencies, noise, clipping, and other technical audio issues.

• Excellent critical listening skills and attention to minute audio details.

• Experience working with high-volume audio datasets or in structured production workflows.

• Prior experience with TTS, speech ML, voice AI, dataset creation, or audio annotation is highly regarded.

• Familiarity with audio QA pipelines, labeling, or evaluation processes is a plus.

• Experience in editing or directing recordings with French voice talent is particularly relevant.

• Ability to balance production speed with consistent quality in repetitive, high-precision tasks.

• Work must be conducted without utilizing confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or third party.
