This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead attorney responsible for a caseload focused on defending both first- and third-party personal injury cases

• Manage cases from their inception through to posttrial motions, encompassing bench trials, jury trials, and binding arbitration

• Assess new and transferred file assignments and provide initial evaluation letters to claims

• Deliver initial discovery within 30 days of assignment

• Summarize discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of receipt

• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses

• Finalize deposition summaries within 20 days

• Perform legal research and draft motions, oppositions, and replies

• Represent the firm in court for law and motion matters

• Create pretrial documents, motions in limine, and oppositions

• Oversee all aspects of jury trials, including trial motions and posttrial motions

• Execute various tasks and assignments delegated by managing and senior managing attorneys


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (law degree)

• Licensed to practice law in the state(s) where working

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance defense or a related field

• Proven experience as the primary attorney in defending personal injury lawsuits

• At least 3 personal injury trials to verdict in insurance defense or equivalent litigation experience

• In-depth understanding of insurance, tort law, evidence, civil procedure, and trial practice

• Strong communication, persuasive, and analytical abilities

• Significant automobile travel required, up to 20% of work time

• Must adhere to established company standards concerning personal driving history and current license status

• Capability to work autonomously with minimal supervision

• Excellent organizational skills necessary for managing a caseload with exposures up to $150,000
