📋 Description

• Develop and manage the comprehensive framework for model governance, AI risk management, responsible AI, and AI governance.

• Provide independent oversight and challenge regarding models, advanced analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and emerging AI technologies.

• Own and continually improve the enterprise model governance framework throughout the model lifecycle.

• Define the model risk appetite, risk taxonomy, minimum control standards, governance requirements, and escalation thresholds.

• Deliver effective challenges throughout model development, validation, implementation, monitoring, and performance evaluation.

• Oversee the enterprise model inventory, including ownership, accountability, documentation, and risk classification.

• Establish model validation standards that encompass conceptual soundness, performance, stability, data quality, bias, explainability, and ongoing monitoring.

• Govern third-party and externally developed models.

• Create and oversee the Responsible AI framework and its principles.

• Set governance standards for fairness, bias, transparency, explainability, accountability, privacy, human oversight, safety, security, and appropriate AI usage.

• Establish processes for AI use-case risk intake, assessment, approval, monitoring, and ongoing oversight.

• Develop standards for the responsible use of generative AI, large language models, AI agents, automated decision-making, and emerging technologies.

• Identify and mitigate unintended consequences, model drift, hallucination, discrimination, explainability limitations, and other AI-specific risks.

• Own the enterprise AI risk management framework and related governance processes.

• Oversee the enterprise AI inventory and its lifecycle monitoring.

• Develop proportionate AI risk assessments and approval requirements.

• Monitor AI performance, effectiveness, risk indicators, incidents, exceptions, and emerging threats.

• Collaborate with cybersecurity, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, Data Governance, and Technology Risk functions.

• Govern external AI providers, foundation models, APIs, AI platforms, and third-party AI solutions.

• Establish policies, standards, procedures, controls, and governance committees related to model and AI risk.

• Define responsibilities for first-line ownership and second-line oversight.

• Monitor metrics related to model and AI risk appetite, tolerance thresholds, and key risk indicators.

• Lead Model Risk and AI Risk Governance committees, reporting to executive management, Risk Committees, and Board Committees.

• Direct a hybrid team comprising internal associates and specialized external partners.

• Promote responsible AI and effective model governance through training, awareness programs, stakeholder engagement, and organization-wide education.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.

• 15+ years of progressive experience in risk management, model risk management, AI governance, technology risk, data governance, analytics, compliance, internal audit, or related fields.

• Extensive experience leading enterprise-level model governance, AI governance, responsible AI, or technology risk initiatives.

• Proven experience operating at an executive level within a complex, highly regulated environment.

• Strong knowledge of AI/ML technologies, generative AI, model development and validation, data governance, and technology risk.

• Familiarity with emerging AI regulatory and governance frameworks as well as relevant healthcare regulatory requirements.

• Solid understanding of enterprise risk management, internal controls, issue management, and risk appetite frameworks.

• Demonstrated ability to articulate complex risk, technology, analytics, and AI governance topics to executive leadership and Board-level audiences.

• Must work from a dedicated space that minimizes interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

• Home internet service must have a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps.

• Ability to travel 25% of the time, including occasional trips to Humana offices for training or meetings.
