This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.
• Oversee the design, continuous management, and effectiveness of medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, and clinical well-being initiatives.
• Formulate clinical program and care management strategies that align with population health objectives.
• Deliver market insights and strategic guidance that influence the enterprise health benefits roadmap and comprehensive Total Rewards strategy.
• Track trends in healthcare, pharmacy, regulations, and clinical innovations, converting developments into actionable strategies.
• Foster relationships and monitor performance across medical, pharmacy, clinical, and point-solution vendors.
• Set service expectations and enforce vendor accountability through performance assessments, service-level agreements, and measurable results.
• Lead the processes for requests for proposals, contract negotiations, implementations, and vendor transitions.
• Direct pharmacy strategy, which includes formulary management, rebate contracting, specialty pharmacy, clinical trend oversight, GLP-1 medications, and biosimilars.
• Assess and incorporate clinical programs, Centers of Excellence, care management services, and point solutions.
• Ensure adherence to relevant federal and state regulations.
• Monitor legislative developments and regulatory guidance, evaluating their impacts on benefit programs and enterprise strategy.
• Utilize analytical and financial skills for cost forecasting, healthcare trend analysis, vendor assessment, and program performance evaluation.
• Create executive-level presentations that articulate complex clinical, financial, and strategic information.
• Persuade senior leaders and facilitate enterprise-level decision-making.
• Recruit, mentor, and nurture a high-performing team.
• Direct performance management, succession planning, talent development, and recognition efforts.
• Assist in large-scale implementations, enterprise transformations, and merger and acquisition activities.
• Advocate for ethical practices, accountability, continuous improvement, and outstanding teammate service.
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, business, healthcare administration, public health, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of ten years of progressive benefits experience within a large, complex, multi-site organization.
• At least five years of leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
• Extensive experience with self-funded medical and pharmacy plan design in a large employer setting.
• Significant experience managing pharmacy benefit manager relationships, formulary strategies, rebate contracting, specialty pharmacy, and clinical trend oversight.
• Experience in designing and evaluating clinical programs, care management strategies, Centers of Excellence, and point solutions.
• Strong comprehension of medical and pharmacy benefit design, network management, clinical program strategy, and population health analytics.
• Familiarity with applicable federal and state benefit laws and regulations, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, HITECH, COBRA, MHPAEA, the No Surprises Act, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, and IRS Sections 105, 125, and 129.
• Robust financial, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities, including cost forecasting, trend analysis, and vendor performance evaluation.
• Proven track record in leading requests for proposals, contract negotiations, vendor implementations, and program transitions.
• Established capability to influence senior leaders and convey complex clinical and financial concepts to executive audiences.
• Experience in supporting large-scale implementations, organizational transformations, or merger and acquisition initiatives.
• Exceptional skills in relationship-building, communication, presentation, and change management.
• A consultative leadership approach with the capability to influence across functions without direct authority.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, anticipate emerging issues, and resolve complex problems.
• Strong commitment to teammate service and organizational values.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, human resources, or a related area.
• Preferred: Certified Employee Benefit Specialist certification.
• Preferred: Experience within a Fortune 500 organization or large, integrated health system.
• Preferred: Familiarity with HR enterprise resource planning platforms such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP.
• Preferred: Experience with benefits administration systems and associated technology platforms.
