Associate – South Korean Industrial & Trade Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Korea.

📋 Description

• Implement the GSCC’s Korea in Asia strategy by leveraging South Korea’s position as a prominent export-driven industrial powerhouse, technology innovator, and regional energy influencer.

• Identify timely media opportunities associated with Korean policy developments, energy announcements, corporate decisions, international summits, and regional occurrences.

• Transform regional developments into clear narratives targeting Korean audiences regarding clean-power demand, supply-chain needs, green industrial competition, and fossil-fuel risks.

• Support the GX Pays strategy by connecting Korea’s domestic transition agenda with trade, financing, industrial investment, and supply-chain collaborations throughout Asia.

• Amplify credible voices from partner nations within Korean political, corporate, and media discussions.

• Turn country-level campaign achievements, evidence, and partner insights into strategic resources for domestic advocacy in Korea.

• Generate concise and precise intelligence on Korean energy and industrial policy updates, including electricity demand, clean-power initiatives, fossil-fuel infrastructure, grid reform, and corporate procurement and investment choices.

• Assist in outreach efforts to Korean firms involved in batteries, EVs, electronics, semiconductors, data centers, industrial manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

• Collaborate with colleagues in Korea, the Asia Regional Team, and relevant GSCC thematic or country teams.

• Recognize significant regional signals and interventions that affect domestic discussions in Korea and adjust the strategy as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6–8 years of experience in industrial or policy campaigning, journalism, research, or communications related to South Korea, preferably with a focus on climate, energy, or industrial transformation.

• In-depth understanding of South Korean politics, media, business, and public policy dynamics.

• Proven ability to write clearly and persuasively for media, policymakers, corporate stakeholders, and civil society partners.

• Professional fluency in both Korean and English, with excellent written skills in both languages.

• Experience in pitching stories to journalists, establishing media relationships, or executing communications campaigns.

• Capability to analyze complex policy, economic, or technical information and convey it in a concise and compelling manner.

• Strong research, organizational, and project management abilities; adept at managing multiple workstreams and deadlines.

• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across cultures, time zones, and teams.
