Associate Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Produce well-tested and maintainable code for clearly defined product features and bug fixes.

• Assume responsibility for small to medium-sized tasks from initial implementation through to review and deployment.

• Engage in design discussions, aligning product requirements with technical considerations.

• Define requirements, document assumptions, and make consistent progress with the necessary support.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of systems, user needs, and mission domains.

• Create, deploy, and maintain features, fixes, and enhancements for mission-critical settings.

• Contribute to the formulation of implementation plans and technical discussions.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to convert requirements into functional software.

• Troubleshoot issues, enhance reliability, and adopt production support practices.

• Integrate with existing defense systems while gaining knowledge of interoperability and security requirements.

• Contribute to open source projects and internal tools through defined issues, fixes, and documentation.

• Develop and sustain technical documentation, including implementation notes, runbooks, and user manuals.

• Participate in production support and shared on-call responsibilities, addressing troubleshooting, incident follow-up, and reliability enhancements.

• Take on larger feature ownership and engage in cross-functional work as skills develop.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• 1-3 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proficient in Go or another contemporary programming language.

• Basic understanding of software design, APIs, databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).

• Exposure to tools or projects centered around software lifecycle and delivery.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts or a desire to learn about them (Controllers, Operators, CRDs).

• Understanding of supply chain security concepts or a willingness to learn about them (SBOMs, signing, scanning, etc.).

• Experience with open source project contributions through coursework, personal projects, internships, or professional employment is a plus.

• Ability to deconstruct problems, learn swiftly, and deliver practical solutions with team collaboration.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a readiness to ask questions and share progress.
