Associate, Scoring Service

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assess the responses to test questions submitted by Texas teacher candidates.

• Familiarize yourself with the established scoring standards.

• Engage in discussions and collaborative scoring sessions with fellow scorers.

• Identify and address implicit biases, including cultural, leniency, central tendency, and halo-effect biases.

• Implement strategies to minimize personal biases during the scoring process.

• Adhere to the quality and productivity standards set for the scoring program.

• Attend training sessions prior to the commencement of scoring.

• Participate in scoring sessions that occur approximately every eight weeks, typically involving three weekdays and occasionally a Saturday.

• Dedicate around 20 hours every two months to scoring activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience and proficiency in sign communication.

• At least three years of experience in educating the deaf and hard of hearing or in ASL instruction.

• Must reside in the state of Texas.

• Adhere to the ethical obligations outlined in §SBEC 230.21 (g), including maintaining test security and confidentiality.

• Agree not to leverage training or experience as a scorer for compensation in test preparation related to this assessment.

• Commit to not taking the exam being scored within 180 days of participation in scoring.

• Withdraw from scoring candidate responses in which you acted as the interviewer.

• Successfully pass a qualifying test before engaging in scoring activities.
