
Associate Regulatory Specialist – Drinking Water

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee the assigned Public Water System (PWS) permits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as outlined in the Safe Drinking Water Act.
• Aid in the preparation and submission of permit applications, which include both construction and operating permits.
• Assist in compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting, and submissions to both federal and state agencies.
• Maintain and track compliance records to ensure timely reporting and adherence to permit obligations.
• Serve as a liaison with federal and state regulatory bodies regarding inspections, sanitary surveys, audits, compliance reviews, enforcement actions, and necessary corrective measures.
• Organize laboratory services and manage sampling logistics.
• Assess water quality data and compliance documentation for precision and thoroughness.
• Offer guidance and training on drinking water compliance to sales and field teams.
• Facilitate Nalco Water's involvement in regulatory reviews and interactions with agencies.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes and assist in implementing required modifications.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Must be able to travel up to 30% as necessary.
• A valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record are required, where applicable.
• Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field; or a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sciences.
• Preferred: Possession of a Drinking Water Operator License.
• Preferred: Professional experience in supporting municipal drinking water systems.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) is essential.
• Experience with waterborne pathogens, such as Legionella bacteria, is required.
• Knowledge of drinking water regulations, including TCR, LCR, DBPR, PFAS drinking water requirements, and CCR requirements, is necessary.
• Experience in coordinating sampling programs, laboratory testing, and compliance reporting is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is required.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• May be required to undergo additional background checks and/or drug/alcohol testing for customer credentialing.
