This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Establish strategic alliances with leaders and HR team members across various Business Units.
• Execute human-centered HR initiatives that align with TNC’s mission, values, and organizational objectives.
• Oversee service delivery and strategic direction for employee relations, compensation, talent management, benefits, payroll, staff development and training, organizational development, performance management, and recruitment.
• Manage a geographically diverse team of HR professionals in Canada and the Western United States.
• Act as the primary liaison between the People Team and Business Unit leaders.
• Provide strategic advice on organizational design, workforce planning, operational efficiencies, job creation or elimination, and resource optimization.
• Counsel managers on TNC policy, SOPs, HR procedures, employment law, employee engagement, and management practices.
• Facilitate conflict resolution, carry out investigations, and recommend solutions.
• Coach managers and staff in goal setting, feedback, development, and high-performance practices.
• Advise on intricate performance management, employee relations, and separations, including terminations.
• Support job design, job descriptions, salary guidance, recruitment, and offer terms.
• Lead the annual pay equity analysis and advocate for equitable promotion, compensation, and talent decisions.
• Develop and implement talent reviews, succession planning, performance processes, and recognition practices.
• Assess learning needs, coordinate HR training, and enhance hiring manager capability.
• Establish and implement HR standards and client service practices across Business Units.
• Lead or engage in cross-functional project teams.
• Supervise and nurture a small HR team that supports geographically dispersed business units.
• Contribute to psychological safety, innovation, and results orientation.
• Optimize a new HR operating model.
• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of HR-related experience supporting client groups of 300+ employees in a global, matrixed, complex environment, or an equivalent combination.
• Proven experience in developing and leading multiple HR-related projects and implementing strategic HR programs.
• Experience in supporting employees in both Canada and the United States.
• In-depth knowledge of Federal and Provincial employment law, including FLSA, ESA, and other related standards.
• Experience managing human resource functions in Canada and the United States, including employee relations, compensation, performance management, benefits, payroll, staff development/training, organizational development, or recruitment.
• Proven track record of partnering with senior managers to identify root causes of HR issues and implement HR strategies and initiatives.
• Experience managing complex employee relations, facilitating critical conversations, and building consultative relationships.
• Experience supervising HR teams of 2 or more employees.
• Demonstrated ability to manage confidential employee matters and data in compliance with local laws and data privacy best practices.
• Proficiency in MS Office software for reporting, data manipulation, and analysis.
• Willingness to travel within the U.S. and Canada up to 10% of the time.
• Flexibility to work non-standard business hours as required across different time zones.
• Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are valued.
• Experienced in complex employee mediation.
• Advanced understanding of HR concepts, processes, and services.
• Skilled in developing and implementing HR policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a high level of emotional intelligence.
• Ability to cultivate a working knowledge of relevant conservation issues.
• Proven experience in leading teams and delivering HR services amidst competing, time-sensitive priorities.
• Experience in developing and delivering presentations and training.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
