This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +7 more states.
• Report directly to the Chief Legal and Privacy Officer, serving as the second-in-command for the legal function.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including those with customers, suppliers, and partners.
• Collaborate with Sales, Partnerships, and Product teams to structure agreements that align business objectives with legal considerations.
• Enhance contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and protocols.
• Assist with due diligence for customers, partners, and vendors, focusing on privacy and information security.
• Provide guidance on CCPA, state privacy legislation, ad-tech standards, AI/ML data usage, AI regulations, and responsible AI governance.
• Maintain and update privacy policies, consent mechanisms, and data governance practices.
• Keep track of regulatory developments in privacy and AI, identifying potential emerging risks.
• Counsel Human Resources on employment-related matters, including policies, terminations, leave, accommodations, investigations, and disputes.
• Support governance for corporate entities, ensuring compliance with formalities, recordkeeping, financing, acquisitions, divestitures, communications, facilities, insurance, and risk management.
• Advise the Chief Legal and Privacy Officer and Chief Financial Officer on legal strategy, processes, and priorities.
• Contribute to the development of the legal function through process enhancements and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor attorneys and legal staff, with a potential for formal management responsibilities.
• Lead cross-functional legal initiatives to enhance contracting efficiency, privacy practices, and AI risk management.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from a law school accredited by the ABA.
• Active bar admission in the state where you reside.
• Extensive in-house generalist experience.
• Proficiency in navigating commercial contracts, privacy issues, employment law, and general corporate law.
• Strong desire to develop expertise in privacy, intellectual property, commercial contracts, and employment law.
• Commitment to high standards of excellence, ethics, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
• Capacity for flexibility, adaptability, and a business-oriented approach to legal risk management.
• Demonstrated drive, tenacity, integrity, trustworthiness, relevant experience, and a low ego.
