This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Secure significant contributions that align with Nature United’s conservation goals.
• Oversee a portfolio of 75–125 qualified donors and prospects capable of donating $100,000+ through one-time or multi-year contributions.
• Meet an annual fundraising target exceeding $1,000,000.
• Develop a major donor pipeline by assessing and qualifying potential leads.
• Create and implement strategies to engage, cultivate, solicit, and support prospects and donors.
• Prepare cases, proposals, budgets, reports, and briefing materials in collaboration with internal teams.
• Direct fundraising strategy and identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects based in the US.
• Assist in the stewardship of US-based middle donors as part of pipeline development.
• Facilitate donor cultivation and stewardship events.
• Adhere to Nature United’s gift-related policies and the ethical standards set by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
• Exhibit a commitment to building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples and fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging.
• Collaborate with The Nature Conservancy’s global fundraising network on cross-border fundraising and shared prospects.
• Manage reporting obligations, ensure compliance with funding terms, and identify opportunities for renewal and upgrades.
• Stay updated on Nature United’s priorities and the broader philanthropic landscape.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience in establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents.
• Demonstrated experience in soliciting and securing gifts of $25,000 or more.
• Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors effectively.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Background, coursework, or training in fundraising principles and best practices.
• Skill in assessing an individual’s interests, capacity, and potential for supporting the organization’s objectives.
• Ability to inform and educate prospective and existing donors about suitable giving options.
• Competence in implementing and managing fundraising strategies, including personalized cultivation, solicitation, and recognition plans.
• Awareness of current trends in charitable giving, including capital campaigns, major gifts, or planned giving.
• Proven track record of utilizing listening, diplomacy, and tact to foster strong relationships and engage donors and volunteers.
• Proven ability to negotiate sensitive or high-profile agreements.
• Working knowledge of the fundamentals of charitable gift planning.
