This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the creation, monitoring, and forecasting of annual budgets for significant Ministry Units and territorial departments.
• Examine financial outcomes, budget discrepancies, and reporting packages to pinpoint risks, trends, and critical issues, delivering actionable insights to senior leadership and departmental stakeholders.
• Assist in long-term financial planning by generating forecasts, assessing future funding needs, and providing advice on financial sustainability.
• Ensure that project budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting adhere to Canada Revenue Agency regulations and internal policies.
• Assess project progress, funding commitments, and financial performance to ensure adequate resources and fulfill organizational obligations.
• Offer financial expertise, guidance, training, and consultative support to leaders and project teams.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders, including auditors, funders, vendors, and service providers.
• Prepare and manage complex financial transactions, journal entries, payment approvals, and other financial operations.
• Contribute to enhancements in business processes and systems.
• Support initiatives funded by donors through financial analysis, funding oversight, stakeholder presentations, and special projects.
• A post-secondary degree or diploma (minimum three-year program) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
• A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, or a similar field.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying risks, assessing options, and recommending effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build relationships and provide consultative support to a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities and adhering to deadlines.
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, coupled with a strong commitment to customer service and ongoing improvement.
• High levels of integrity, professionalism, and adaptability, including the capacity to manage change, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively with complex financial data and varying reporting standards.
