Associate Director of Development – Latin America

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Identify, nurture, solicit, and manage relationships with donors for significant or principal contributions that support conservation and fundraising initiatives in Latin America.

β€’ Collaborate with the Senior Associate Director of Development, Relationship Managers, and fundraising leaders throughout TNC.

β€’ Assist Relationship Managers and TNC leadership in fundraising efforts for both global and local priorities.

β€’ Clearly communicate TNC's global objectives and engage in campaigns at a sophisticated level.

β€’ Create proposal budgets utilizing knowledge of organizational finances.

β€’ Coordinate efforts across chapters and programs while managing a network of referrals.

β€’ Accompany Latin America leadership on trips.

β€’ Oversee a variety of activities, project outcomes, and solutions to enhance effectiveness.

β€’ Act as a liaison with regional, global, development, conservation, public-sector, private-sector, and partner teams.

β€’ Aid the Latin America Development team in motivating leaders to boost contributions.

β€’ Contribute to achieving the US$40M target for FY27 and the goal of doubling philanthropic revenue by 2030.

β€’ Implement strategies for the discovery, cultivation, and stewardship of international prospects and donors with the capacity to contribute over US$100,000.

β€’ Support donor meetings, trips, in-person events, and leadership visits.

β€’ Manage a portfolio consisting of 25 to 50 Relationship Managers.

β€’ Complete between 25 to 50 visits with Relationship Managers and 75 to 150 moves each year.

β€’ Establish and achieve fundraising goals, assess outcomes, and devise corrective strategies.

β€’ Oversee internal review processes for international solicitations and gifts.

β€’ Draft tailored donor correspondence, proposals, stewardship notes, and reports.

β€’ Assist with complex, diverse fundraising projects and coordinate development professionals.

β€’ Utilize TNC's donor database to maintain information, generate reports, analyze data, and track and engage donors.

β€’ Communicate TNC's mission to various audiences.

β€’ Ensure adherence to TNC policies, procedures, and donor/legal/IRS standards.

β€’ Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

β€’ Engage in frequent domestic and/or international travel, often on short notice.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.

β€’ Proven experience in establishing and nurturing long-term relationships with major and principal gift donors, volunteers, and staff.

β€’ Expertise in designing and executing fundraising strategies, including cultivation, solicitation, and recognition tactics.

β€’ Strong project management capabilities, including coordination of activities led by others and deadline management.

β€’ Ability to collaborate across departments and work with multiple teams.

β€’ Experience in generating reports and analyzing as well as interpreting data.

β€’ Familiarity with the Latin America Region.

β€’ Must be based in Brazil.

β€’ Proficient in English and Portuguese; Spanish is an additional asset.

β€’ Capacity to assess an individual's interests, capacity, and potential to assist the Conservancy in meeting its objectives.

β€’ Demonstrated ability to use listening, diplomacy, and tact to cultivate strong relationships and inspire donors and volunteers.

β€’ Proven track record in negotiating complex, high-profile, or sensitive agreements.

β€’ Proficient in using TNC's donor database/CRM for portfolio management.

β€’ Legal authorization to work and reside in Brazil is mandatory.

β€’ Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, often on short notice; ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
