This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Identify, nurture, and secure philanthropic gifts ranging from five to seven figures from private donors.
• Engage with and maintain relationships with individual major donors through the development of a pipeline, personalized cultivation efforts, communications, solicitations, and reporting.
• Create tailored donor cultivation strategies informed by research and internal discussions.
• Develop, manage, and foster innovative partnerships with corporations and foundations.
• Establish and execute cause-marketing collaborations.
• Oversee the donor recognition initiative and annual engagement events.
• Revitalize and manage the comprehensive planned giving initiative.
• Administer non-traditional giving options, including donor advised funds, life insurance policies, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and retirement plan beneficiary designations.
• Build the Legacy Society along with associated donor benefits.
• Manage external vendors who support the planned giving initiative.
• Develop and uphold strategies for fundraising and friend-raising events.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping in Salesforce and internal knowledge management systems.
• Collaborate with the Development team on record management and donor data integrity policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues in new business, marketing, communications, and program areas.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Development and the VP of Business Development and Fundraising.
• Over 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in development.
• Proven success with private giving programs at the five to seven-figure gift level.
• 2 to 4+ years of supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Extensive experience in relationship-building, partnership management, and revenue responsibility.
• Familiarity with all aspects of development.
• Proven understanding of managing a portfolio of prospects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and nuance in communications.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and sound judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
• Capability to work independently on multiple concurrent projects from inception to completion.
• Creative problem-solving skills and proactive idea generation.
• Focus on processes and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to travel domestically as needed for donor meetings and events.
