Associate Director – Director of Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the development and submission of grant proposals, reports, and materials for donors.

• Transform CDI’s initiatives and impact into engaging narratives for funding sources.

• Collaborate with the Finance, Marketing & Communications, and program teams.

• Ensure high-quality and efficient grant processes.

• Oversee the grants calendar, deadlines, and commitments to funders.

• Manage fundraising systems and infrastructure, including HubSpot, funder records, workflows, and documentation.

• Maintain reusable grant content, case studies, pitch decks, templates, and annual reports.

• Work closely with Finance to process contributions and monitor grant requirements.

• Keep the fundraising pipeline updated and convert it into revenue projections.

• Develop and enhance fundraising workflows, tools, and systems.

• Prepare and follow up on the Executive Director’s relationships with funders.

• Assist in shaping fundraising strategies and priorities.

• Conduct research on prospects and the funding landscape.

• Depending on experience, manage and nurture a portfolio of funder relationships.

• Report directly to the Executive Director with no direct reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in development or fundraising.

• Proven track record in writing successful grants in the six- and seven-figure range.

• Experience in establishing systems and processes for fundraising operations, particularly in smaller or growing organizations.

• Excellent writing and communication abilities.

• Exceptional organizational skills, self-direction, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and accuracy.

• Strong judgment and capability to anticipate issues and determine escalation needs.

• A passion for constructive dialogue and alignment with CDI's values.

• For Director level: 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in development or fundraising.

• For Director level: 2+ years in management or leadership positions.

• For Director level: Experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding funder relationships.

• For Director level: Experience in developing and executing fundraising strategies that achieve philanthropic revenue goals of $1 million or more.

• Must be located in the United States.
