Associate Director – Director of Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead the development and submission of grant proposals, reports, and materials for donors.

• Transform CDI’s initiatives and impact into engaging narratives for funding sources.

• Collaborate with the Finance, Marketing & Communications, and program teams to collect grant-related content.

• Ensure high-quality standards and efficient processes for grant management.

• Maintain a detailed grants calendar and oversee deadlines.

• Manage fundraising systems and infrastructure, including HubSpot, funder records, workflows, and documentation.

• Keep reusable grant content, case studies, pitch decks, templates, and annual reports up to date.

• Work alongside Finance to process contributions, monitor grant requirements, and maintain accurate documentation.

• Update the fundraising pipeline regularly and convert it into revenue forecasts.

• Develop and enhance fundraising workflows, tools, and systems.

• Prepare and coordinate follow-up actions for the Executive Director’s relationships with funders.

• Assist the Executive Director in establishing fundraising strategies and priorities.

• Conduct research on prospects and the funding landscape.

• Depending on experience, manage and nurture a portfolio of funder relationships.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in development or fundraising.

• Proven track record of writing successful grants in the six- and seven-figure range.

• Experience in creating systems and processes for fundraising operations, especially in smaller or growing organizations.

• Outstanding writing and communication abilities.

• Exceptional organizational skills and self-direction, requiring minimal oversight.

• Strong attention to detail, quality, and precision.

• Good judgment with the ability to foresee issues and determine when escalation is necessary.

• A passion for constructive dialogue and alignment with CDI’s core values.

• For the Director role: 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in development or fundraising.

• For the Director role: At least 2 years in management or leadership positions.

• For the Director role: Experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding funder relationships.

• For the Director role: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies that achieve philanthropic revenue targets of $1 million or more.

• Must reside in the United States.

• Flexibility to work within U.S. time zones.
