This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct routine administration and health assessments for SQL Server databases in both on-premises and Azure settings under the guidance of senior DBAs.
• Oversee database availability, capacity, performance, job execution, and alerts; address common issues and escalate more complicated incidents as necessary.
• Assist with backup, restoration, recovery validation, database refresh, and migration efforts.
• Support user access management, permissions, patching, maintenance, and security protocols.
• Utilize T-SQL and approved tools for diagnostics, query and index analysis, as well as task automation.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, inventory, and operational records.
• Work collaboratively with senior DBAs, developers, infrastructure personnel, and security teams.
• Take part in scheduled maintenance activities and an on-call rotation.
• 1-3 years of applicable experience in database administration, systems administration, or a similar technical field; equivalent education and hands-on training may be accepted.
• Fundamental understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and relational database principles.
• Proficient in T-SQL, including query writing and knowledge of stored procedures, execution plans, and indexes.
• Understanding of database backups, restoration processes, recovery models, security permissions, and routine maintenance tasks.
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation techniques.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and proficiency in analyzing logs, alerts, and performance metrics.
• Excellent documentation, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
• Capability to adhere to operational procedures, change controls, and security protocols while managing sensitive financial information responsibly.
• Willingness to travel during the first six months of employment and approximately 5% annually thereafter.
• Must possess valid U.S. work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or other cloud database services is a plus.
• Familiarity with SQL Server Agent, Availability Groups, Transparent Data Encryption, Redgate SQL Monitor, or Foglight.
• Experience using PowerShell, source control, or ticketing and change-management systems.
• Awareness of SOX and PCI DSS compliance requirements.
• Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate certification or progress toward a relevant Microsoft certification is preferred.
