Associate Counsel, PIP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Represent clients in arbitrations and lawsuits initiated in New York, as well as manage other first-party insurance defense issues.

• Conduct legal research and draft legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.

• Provide coverage opinions, assess medical necessity/causation, evaluate damages, and determine value as requested by the Claims Department.

• Prepare and manage arbitration submissions and examinations under oath.

• Defend assigned cases in trials or dispositive hearings as necessary.

• Travel to trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 to 6+ years of litigation experience is REQUIRED.

• A Juris Doctor degree is REQUIRED.

• Admission to the New York Bar is REQUIRED.

• Must hold a valid license in good standing to practice law in New York and comply with all licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) obligations where applicable.

• Must be willing to travel as necessary, including to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

• Must demonstrate the ability to document files in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

• Must be capable of following complex instructions, resolving conflicts, or facilitating conflict resolution.

• Strong skills in organization, prioritization, and multitasking are essential.

• Must be able to absorb and apply extensive technical and procedural information.

• Civil litigation experience is preferred.

• Experience in insurance defense-related litigation and/or personal injury is preferred.

• Must possess professional communication skills in person, via telephone, and through written correspondence/email.
