Associate Counsel, PIP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Represent clients in arbitrations and lawsuits initiated in New York and manage other first-party insurance defense issues.

• Conduct legal research and draft briefs, opinions, and memoranda.

• Provide assessments on coverage, medical necessity/causation, damages, and valuation as requested by the Claims Department.

• Prepare and manage arbitration submissions and examinations under oath.

• Defend assigned cases through trial or dispositive hearing, as appropriate.

• Travel as necessary to participate in trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 to 6+ years of litigation experience is REQUIRED.

• Juris Doctor degree is REQUIRED.

• Admission to the New York Bar is REQUIRED.

• Must hold a valid license in good standing to practice law in New York and fulfill licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) where applicable.

• Must be willing to travel as needed, including but not limited to trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

• Ability to document files clearly, concisely, and professionally in writing is essential.

• Must follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and possess strong organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking abilities.

• Capability to learn and apply extensive technical and procedural information is required.

• Experience in civil litigation is preferred.

• Background in insurance defense-related litigation and/or personal injury is preferred.

• Must be able to communicate professionally, both in-person and through telephone and written correspondence/email.
