Assistant Ship Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Provide remote support to the SPA team while onboarding the USNS WATERS.

• Assist in the management of the USNS WATERS, a test ship for weapons and navigation that aids the Navy's Strategic Systems Programs.

• Review technical specifications related to equipment and vessel repairs and modifications.

• Ensure adherence to industry standards.

• Implement best practices throughout the organization.

• Liaise with sponsor program managers, Military Sealift Command Port Engineers, and contractors.

• Guarantee that work items are carried out efficiently and safely.

• Travel frequently to the ship's location in Port Canaveral, Florida, and other sites across the United States for shipyard repair.

⛳️ Requirements

• Part-time Marine Engineer, Naval Architect, or Engineer in a relevant discipline.

• Willingness to travel to and work in Port Canaveral, Florida, and other CONUS locations.

• U.S. Citizen.

• DoD SECRET clearance or higher, or capacity to obtain and maintain clearance.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, a related field, or equivalent experience in vessel operations and repair.

• At least five years of experience in a comparable role within the maritime sector.

• Familiarity with current maritime regulations and compliance standards.

• Experience in reviewing and endorsing technical specifications for vessel repairs and modifications.

• Capability to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

• Preferred: Experience serving as Chief Engineer or Port Engineer on vessels.

• Preferred: Experience in troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems pertinent to marine operations.

• Preferred: Experience in drafting Military Sealift Command (MSC) work items.
