Assistant Professor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Set up, configure, maintain, and provide support for HPC hardware, software, and associated infrastructure.

• Deliver Linux system administration and operational assistance for research computing settings.

• Diagnose technical issues and offer support to faculty, staff, students, and research partners.

• Collaborate with researchers on projects involving machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analysis, data management, and visualization.

• Aid researchers in optimizing applications and workflows for parallel and GPU-based computing environments.

• Assess and adopt emerging technologies that cater to advanced computing and research requirements.

• Establish and sustain an independent research initiative.

• Seek external grant funding and contribute to joint research proposals.

• Assist with or lead funding applications that promote the growth and sustainability of the Center for High Performance Computing.

• Engage in departmental, institutional, and professional service activities aligned with a faculty appointment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Terminal degree in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related scientific or technical field.

• Proven experience in system administration within a Linux environment.

• Familiarity with Linux server configuration, including RHEL, CentOS, or a similar operating system.

• Understanding of system scripting, security protocols, and network practices.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

• Ability to operate independently, take initiative, and adapt to new technologies.

• Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States from the first day of employment.

• Experience in an HPC environment is preferred.

• Familiarity with cluster file systems, job scheduling, workflow management, and resource management tools is preferred.

• Experience with tools such as Moab, Maui, or TORQUE is preferred.

• Knowledge of container technologies like Singularity, Docker, or similar is preferred.

• Understanding of parallel computing methods, including multithreading and Message Passing Interface (MPI), is preferred.

• Experience with GPU computing and software optimization for high-performance computing environments is preferred.

• Background in supporting machine learning, artificial intelligence, data-intensive research, or scientific visualization is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience in developing or contributing to grant-funded research is preferred.
