This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Directly supervise and nurture the development of the Accounting Supervisor, Revenue Accountant, and Part-Time AR Manager.
• Act as the escalation point for judgment calls, exceptions, and any unusual transactions.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development planning for direct reports.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within managed functions.
• Review and authorize accounts payable aging and cash disbursement forecasts.
• Oversee vendor master data controls, resolution of invoice-PO matching exceptions, and compliance with T&E policies.
• Review complex accrual estimates, vendor disputes, and matters related to contract interpretation.
• Examine monthly revenue-to-cash reconciliations across various sales channels, including Shopify, Amazon, and wholesale.
• Supervise the application of revenue recognition policies, chargebacks, return/refund reserves, and payment processor fees.
• Review and approve estimates for judgmental reserves.
• Manage the accounts receivable reserve and oversee collections aging, customer credit memos, deduction management, cash application, and resolution of unapplied cash.
• Own the close calendar and checklist for managed functions and direct general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and/or review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, internal controls, and testing procedures.
• Prepare and/or review cash reconciliations for operating, payroll, and merchant/payment processor bank accounts.
• Manage the fixed asset sub-ledger, including aspects of capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and internal software capitalizations.
• Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses and accrued liabilities.
• Record and reconcile debt instruments, investments, related interest, leases under ASC 842, and other corporate schedules.
• Serve as a secondary technical reviewer for non-routine general ledger entries and account classifications.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA is highly preferred.
• Over 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience in multi-channel e-commerce accounting is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
• Proven experience in managing a monthly close process and reconciliation cadence.
• Demonstrated success in automating accounting processes and reducing close cycle time, including saved searches, workflows, and system integrations.
• Experience with AP/T&E automation platforms and CRM/AR tools.
• Systems- and process-oriented mindset, focusing on automating and simplifying manual processes.
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership and accountability during time-sensitive close cycles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document accounting conclusions and communicate effectively with non-accountants.
• Must reside anywhere in the United States and be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Standard working hours should align with 9:00 am - 6:00 pm EST.
