This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Provide coverage for short-term, surge, on-demand, summer camp, and backfill situations in support of the MFLC program.
• Offer adult and Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
• Deliver non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, and youth.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling sessions, consultations, action planning, referrals to resources, linkages, and follow-ups.
• Provide consultation services to parents, childcare personnel, school staff, youth programs, summer camps, and installation command.
• Support DoDEA schools, community schools, youth programs, military community and readiness centers, and on-demand assignments as needed.
• Collaborate closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure services align with scope and meet installation requirements.
• Deliver training and health and wellness presentations, and participate in health fairs and other installation activities.
• Enter counselor activity data daily via a smartphone or web application while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity for service members and their families.
• Establish a visible, approachable, and confidential presence at installations and in child and youth environments.
• Build working relationships with community resources and provide appropriate linkages.
• Partner with Points of Contact to deliver Adult and CYB services tailored to installation or facility needs.
• Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to DoD protocols and collaborate with Regional Supervisors or Directors on cases.
• Engage in individual and group supervision and communicate trends and issues to Regional Supervisors.
• Respond to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the Point of Contact and approved by the OSD program manager.
• Perform additional duties aligned with the role's intent as assigned by a leader.
• Licensed at the independent level in any state as a Mental Health Counselor, Therapist, or Social Worker.
• Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health-related field or social work.
• Willingness to accept assignments with little notice, including weekends, for undefined durations.
• Capability to cover full-time assignments ranging from a weekend to two weeks.
• Ability to rapidly establish rapport with service personnel, family members, students, parents, and colleagues.
• Flexibility to adapt to new working conditions and varying location regulations.
• Competence to work effectively with minimal instruction and guidance.
• Ability to listen attentively to instructions.
• Availability for in-services, training, Quality Improvement committees, and other contract activities with minimal notice.
• Capacity to quickly engage and communicate with military members, spouses, or children and respond to urgent situations across military installations and school settings.
• Ability to traverse short and long distances, navigate rugged, outdoor, or uneven terrain, and work in outdoor weather and military base conditions.
• Compliance with site-specific requirements, including current immunizations or vaccinations if required.
• Proof of US Citizenship is mandatory.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling techniques.
• Prior military service, military family membership, and/or strong familiarity with military culture is preferred.
• CYB positions require meeting Magellan MFLC CYB criteria for experience with children and youth, along with specialization in child and adolescent development/psychology.
• Current licensure must meet state, Commonwealth, or customer-specific criteria.
• Must possess independent licensure as a behavioral health clinician.
• Valid in-state driver's license is required.
• Position covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA).
