
Area Sales Manager – Robotic Surgical Technologies

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Design and execute focused sales strategies for the Hugo™ Robotic Assisted Surgery System.
• Market the Hugo™ RAS System, including end effectors and related services.
• Foster relationships within hospitals and navigate lengthy, intricate sales processes.
• Create business cases, total cost of ownership analyses, cost-per-procedure assessments, and contracts.
• Engage with budget-holders and hospital executives to facilitate purchasing decisions.
• Develop and present workshops, system presentations, proposals, and contracts.
• Work in conjunction with internal Medtronic teams to promote the adoption of robotic-assisted surgery.
• Identify and prioritize market opportunities through comprehensive market analysis.
• Assist hospitals in integrating the Hugo™ Surgical Robotic System.
• Establish enduring partnerships with healthcare professionals and hospital leadership.
• Collaborate with Minimally Invasive Surgery specialists and technical support teams.
• Encourage collaboration between customers and internal teams during sales and post-purchase support.
• Analyze market data, evaluate competition, and provide sales projections.
• Secure significant contracts.
• Monitor and report on sales performance while refining sales strategies.
• Maintain technical proficiency for product demonstrations, training, and customer inquiries.
• Dedicate considerable time to fieldwork, visiting clients and colleagues.
• Promote and sell Medtronic medical/scientific equipment and services within designated accounts.
• Cultivate relationships with hospitals, physicians, and Radiology and Surgical teams.
• Pursue leads, evaluate needs, and deliver product services.
• Conduct and analyze customer and competitor market research.
• Formulate and execute market development plans and strategies.
• Gather and assess customer feedback on products and relay it to R&D, Operations, and Marketing.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) AND 10+ years of experience OR Associate’s Degree AND 8+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 6+ years of experience in sales within a medical and/or operating room context.
• Minimum of 3 years in dedicated capital complex sales is required.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned region (50% or more).
• Expertise in surgery, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques.
• Established network in surgical and operating room environments, including connections with surgeons.
• Strong commitment to ethical practices and adherence to company policies.
• Excellent ability to articulate ideas clearly.
• Proficient in critical thinking, intelligent debate, and ongoing learning.
• Competent in modern computer applications.
• Experience in a matrix organizational structure.
• Robust negotiation skills.
• For degrees obtained outside the United States, a degree that meets the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is necessary.
• A valid driver's license is required.
